Grantee Spotlight: Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado

Impact100 Metro Denver grantee, Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC), has already begun to put their grant award to good use in 2022. The nonprofit partnered with six community groups to host 16 health and climate-related volunteer projects in seven Denver neighborhoods this year as part of their Healthy Communities Program. 241 volunteers took part in these projects, which ranged from planting local produce to removing invasive weeds, and 16% of the volunteers lived within 2-3 miles of the project.

In addition, VOC is continuing to use Impact100 funds to increase its organization’s cultural competency through community collaboration, implicit bias training, and improved demographic tracking. They have begun conversations with fellow grantee, Mi Casa Resource Center, about partnership opportunities in 2023 such as transforming Mi Casa’s parking lot into a community garden and collaborating on a Spanish-speaking VOC volunteer project.
