Progress on Strategic Goals
July 2023 – June 2024
In July 2023, the Impact100 Metro Denver board gathered to form strategic goals based on the
input of members about what direction they hoped to see our chapter take in the next three
years. This past month the board celebrated the progress made toward these goals and shared
some of the next key steps for the coming year.
1. STRENGTHEN OUR INFRASTRUCTURE TO SUPPORT THE NEEDS OF A
GROWING ORGANIZATION
July 2023 – June 2024 Recap:
● New members joined the Governance Committee to expand skill set and people power
● By-laws were reviewed for general updates as well as items related to current goals
● New committee chairs took on positions for Grants Administration (Alisia Robin), Grants
(Leslie Mook), Sponsorship (Cindy Grubenhoff), and Governance (Jackie Norris).
What’s Ahead this Year Snapshot:
● Adopt revised by-laws and create an Operations Manual
● Design a more intentional and transparent leadership pipeline that invites members to engage where they are interested
● Build a Technology Committee to support the technological needs of each committee
● Build a Sponsorship Committee to raise funds for special projects
● Build a Finance Committee to support the work of the Treasurer
2. INCREASE AND EXPAND MEMBER ENGAGEMENT
July 2023 – June 2024 Recap:
● Membership Engagement team was formed and actively reaches out to members to find out their interests and share ways they can be involved
● Quarterly New Member orientation meetings were held in the homes of members to welcome new members, help them understand the various functions with Impact, and make connections between members
● The Membership Directory was launched on the website to help members connect more easily with each other.
● The Impact100 Metro Denver newsletter moved from every two months to monthly to keep members better informed.
● The Buddy program was launched to connect new members who are interested with another member as a buddy.
What’s Ahead this Year Snapshot:
● Continue to recruit for and build the Buddy Program
● Expand our efforts to welcome and get to know our new (and ongoing) members
● Increase awareness of volunteer opportunities both within Impact100 and with our grantee organizations
3. REVIEW AND IMPROVE THE GRANTS PROCESS FOR EQUITY AND
INCLUSIVENESS
July 2023 – June 2024 Recap:
● The requirement to submit audited financials was replaced with a request for two years of 990 filings.
● Reduced the minimum annual budget size for organizations from $1,000,000 to $500,000.
● Rather than requiring a one-time project for the $100,000 Transformational Grant application, we are now funding core mission work.
● The Grants Committee continued to reach out to nonprofits about how the process is working, and ways it can improve.
What’s Ahead this Year Snapshot:
● New team of Grantee Liaisons will help connect members with opportunities to learn about and engage with grantees
● The pilot Accelerator Grant will be evaluated, and recommendations will be presented about how to move forward
4. DIVERSIFY THE MEMBERSHIP BOTH ETHNICALLY AND GENERATIONALLY
July 2023 – June 2024 Recap:
● Quarterly Membership Prospect Gatherings were held in a variety of locations to meet prospects, answer questions, and make connections.
● Curated Consultants has reviewed our strategic goals and is sharing recommendations to help us understand current barriers to increasing diversity and suggesting potential strategies.
● Membership committee members have talked with leaders from other women’s giving circles to learn about tools and strategies they use.
What’s Ahead this Year Snapshot:
● ABIDE recommendations from Curated Consultants will be discussed by each committee and the board to determine what directions make the most sense for the year ahead, and what needs to be put in place to consider other recommendations.
● These recommendations will be incorporated into the strategic plan.
● Partnerships with other giving circles in the Denver Metro Area will be explored.
● The board will deliberate on updating the Mission and Vision statements. Members will be invited to participate if the decision is to update.
